I'm thinking about picking up the Dell U3011 but I'm not sure what I'd need to power that beauty. I don't need every setting maxed out and 30 FPS usually doesn't bother me but I'd like some sort of future proofing if possible, maybe a single card now and pair it in a year or two? Or would I have to double up right away? Currently I play L4D2, DoW2, TF2, Dead Space, FC2 and possibly WoW again.

Also, how much power would I need in a 1090T system with your recommendations? Currently have a EarthWatts650. OCing is not a major concern for me.

I would get a GTX570 or 6950. Either should be fine.

The games you play don't need that much power and both of those video cards will be able to handle 2560x1600 well in those games. The cards are in the $280-$350 range.

650w is plenty of power for any single GPU card.

Running mine with 2x 6970's.

I never drop below 60, unless it's metro 2033.

Two HD6970s can take on pretty much anything at 2560x1600, and they will work on your 650W unit, but they will stress it pretty hard. I'd say two HD6950s as the maximum to be safe. They still have the extra memory, but are more efficient GPUs. If you can afford a $1400 U3100, you can afford $600 on cards to run it!

Start off with one 6970, then go from there. If you do decide to get a U3011, you'll absolutely love it. Gaming at 2560X1600 is a whole new experience. Good luck with it.

This is probably what I'll do. I'm currently using a 22" @ 1680x1050 so I'm probably going to be blown away, which is the whole point :D

That's an understatement ;)

I remember my first experience w. 2560x1600...it was pure bliss
