I need to build a file server to act as a media server for my house. I'm wanting to store all my tivo'd recordings and such on it as well as my cd collection that I mp3'd off. I am seriously considering getting one of those network attached storage adapters (like the dlink one) or just maybe put together a very small machine to drive the disks. I'm thinking of running 4 400 gig seagate SATA drives with ncq.

so my questions, anyone have any suggestions or opinions on a better way to accomplish what I"m trying to get? anyone have any recommendations on a good NAS front? are these good drives to get?
