Recommendations for a headset/mic combo

I find myself in need of using chat more and more often as I play games on MSN these days, and I currently have this crappy logitech headset/mic combo I bought for 30 bucks.

I am looking for something with decent audio quality(good bass, imaging, etc...), and also a good mic. I dont want to spend more than 100 bucks, but I will if I have to. Also I want something I can use with my soundcard, so no USB solutions.
 
I've read alot of people say that the Sennheiser PC150's are really nice although not cheap. I just use my headset a bit so I got a cheap pair of Plantronics .Audio 90's. I took a chance as they're supposed to be very prone to failing (especially the mic).
 
i had bought one of the logitech usb headphone/mics, and i didnt really like it. The sound quality was poor, and it dropped my frame rate enough to make games sucky (on my old p3-933). I havent tried it on my new p4 rig.

Since i splurged on a audigy2 ZS plat, i picked up a new headphone / mic rig. Some $40 altec lansing job from best buy. Analog inputs. Seems decent, im sure its no sennheiser. But it sounds much better than the logitech usb (i think it was the usb dac that ships with it or something).
 
Yea, ide love to hear if anyone has ever used the Sennheiser pc150 headphones/mic. I mean, for about 40$ it "seems" like a good deal, and after having the sennheiser hd590's and hd280 pro's im very pleased with sennheiser. I have a friend who is in need of a headphone/mic combo.

Anyone ever use the pc150?
 
It's more expensive than the A90's, but not by much. I'm using a set right now, and had a set of the Platronics before- sound quality doesn't seem so much better (but better), while the mic is much better. Personally it's the only sub $50 headset I've found that just works- really haven't seen much else that appears to be of quality make :/
 
I put another vote in for the A90's. Cheap and relatively good audio and mic.
 
The A90's have a history of breaking down not too long (most of the people I know that have them have had the mics stop working ~2 1/2 to 3 months after use) even with the most moderate use.

Personally I think it's better to invest in a 10 dollar mic and a good pair of cans.
 
Well yes, but what about headset? for most games I play, I'd much rather just be able to talk, instead of having to lean foreward and talk. Just not my thing, the convenience is worth it.
 
I usually don't lean forward at all, and people hear me just fine, and I'm about 2 1/2 feet away from the mic. I only lean forward when I'm drunk or trying to sing karaoke
 
If you play CS, DOD, or CS:CZ, I'll be glad to hop on a server one day and show you how my mic sounds :). Oh yeah, try to keep a fan away from blowing on the mic while in use, that's the only thing that annoys me with a standalone mic, other than that, it's perfect.
