hello i just moved to a better watercooling setup and i love the results. but my nb is running kinda hot between 40-50 c sometimes higher. I would like to watercool it but i need a block that will fit on my asus sli premium board and will not get in the way of my vid cards. I am running 8x10 tubing and using compression fittings. any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I ran into the same problem figuring out what blocks I am going to use. The best solution looks to be the Innovatek block.

Alpha Cool has one too, but you would have to buy the fittings seperately and i don't think you can get it in America yet.

It looks like it will because the threads sit out pretty far, but I have not seen a pic of an SLI board with that block. Being that the block name has SLI in it, I am assuming it was desinged for just that. The Aqua Computer one will not fit because of the barbs being to close to the upper card.

ok so i decided i prolly will not be using sli antmore or in the near future so i was wondering if thid block will fit w/ogetting in the way of a single vid card:

o and one more quick question. i ordered the aqua computer pump from sharka and i got the compression fittings and i love it but i think im goin to swap out the straight fitting on the intake w/an elbow fitting. do i want 1/8 or 1/4 thread. when i went back and looked at the sight they list 1/8, 1/4, and 3/8 thread for the fittings. a little confusing is all. thanks again

You can see the issue here with the stock 8mm compression fittings.
Here is with one of the 8mm compression nuts fitted on.
So the bottom line is that the stock AC 8mm compression fittings are not going to work. However, I think the nuts could be spun down to fit if you are an enterprising soul. A lathe would make short work of this, but you could also probably ghetto it with a drill press and a file. If you are into apartment machining like I am I suppose a drill motor and a file would suffice. Sharka has a lathe in the back of their warehouse so you might be able to talk them into spinning them down for you.
Some other possible options would be to use an 8mm x 10mm push-fit as IIRC Alphacool and other companies sells those. Here is a pic of the 10mm on a G 1/8 thread.

That block will not work properly on the SLI boards, which was why AC developed the TwinPlex Pro SLI Typ 1 seen below:

It looks like the Alphacool block is thinner instead of having a notch cut out of it. I will probably go with that one in hopes of getting compression fittings on it.

Hey Top Nurse, Is that Chipset block I linked to above different than the one you are using in your rig?

The pic above shows a standard AC TwinPlex on an ASUS A8N-SLI motherboard. Those boards don't have that problem with the video cards like the DFI do.
