Recommendations For 24' Gaming Monitor

I'll keep this short n' sweet. I use to have a Samsung 19' monitor, then ditched that and started using my 47' Phillips TV Flatpanel as a duel tv/pc monitor. This obviously doesn't yield the results I originally thought it have, and I've decided bigger isn't necessarily better for ME.

That said, I'm in the market for a 24' Flatpanel monitor. It's been awhile and I've become lost on the various technologies being incorporated today by the various manufacturers. Please, heeeelppp! Heh.

Here's the fine points:

1. 70% Gaming / 30% photo/imaging edit & reading/writing
2. Price range: $200-$400 (preferred) or $500-$1200 (only if its TRULY WORTH THE INVESTMENT!)
3. I want what we all want. A beautiful picture that doesn't lag, bleed, look dull, etc. I want a monitor that makes me say, "Wow!," and combines a beautiful picture, awesome gaming experience, and shows nice crisp n' sharp FONTS
4. It needs to have DVI/HDMI hook up options
5. I'm looking for native 1920 x 1080 resolution

That said, is there anyone out there that can lend me their expertise in monitors, and give me their opinions as to why I should go w/ monitor "X"? Thanks in advance for any help/advice you can share!

Warm Regards,
Syric

Sounds like you should get two monitors, one for each purpose. TN panels are generally the best for gaming, but they have poor viewing angles and subpar color for imaging/graphics work. If you're willing to drop up to $1200 for a display, it wouldn't be a gaming display.

I like my Asus VW266H (TN), but it's 25.5" and 16:10, not 16:9 that you prefer. I like the extra real estate. It's also a year or two old, so there are probably better displays around now.

Thank you for the input GJS. What really gripes me is my best friend always bringing up how his NEC monitors are so this, so that, and how his reading/gaming experience is so awesome and bla bla bla. I'm tired of hearing about it, heh. I mean, are NEC monitors REALLY that good? I've seen him play on it, and it does look beautiful, but for the price tag on them?!

What confuses me if many argue Gaming monitor vs. Photo/reading (I read ALOT on the computer). My logic has me thinking that wouldn't a more color realistic monitor also be a kickass gaming monitor because your getting all that beautiful ...color awesomeness? ehh...I making sense here?

Ultimately, I'm trying to find a happy "best of both worlds" scenario, if one even exists.

One's for gaming, one's for graphics. If you're serious about graphics, or do it even semi-professionally, you don't want a TN panel.

BenQ V2400W is a great monitor for gaming. Also is great for text, video, and has terrific factory settings and colors.

Why has no one told him to buy a 120hz TN monitor for gaming, what's wrong with this thread!
Acer & Alienware make one, $400 or so.
