I'd love to hear recommendations and past experiences on in-ear style active noise-cancelling earbuds?
i'd like to be able to also use them without audio.

I'd appreciate avoiding off topic Etymotic-type suggestions as they are more noise "isolating" as opposed to what I"m looking for which is "active noise cancelling".

No bose (since their noise cancelling only come in over-the-ear as opposed to in-ear that I'm looking for.)

TIA.

I know you said no ety-like suggestions but I cannot imagine anyone needing to get rid of any more noise than my UM2s...

I don't think there are any active noise cancelling headphones, as the cancelling is done by another speaker, and of course you couldn't have 2 speakers in one IEM.

In (1), there's a sound wave. In (2), there is a speaker that copies that wave but uses an opposite value. Both waves cancel each other out, which leaves us at (3). The problems with this is probably that not all the sound can be canceled out because of equipment limitations.

lol....

I just want recommendations or past experiences :(

i know the concept / theory behind active noise cancellations. I know that pure noise cancellation is not going to be achieved w/ earbud type headphones but i'm just looking for the best candidate...

If you're looking for active cancellation, you're not going to find it in a non-acoustically sealing form. Whether that means IEMs or closed over-ear headphones, even the best active cancellation systems don't work if you have a significant open space between your ears and the outside world
