Hey,

I currently own Klipsch THX 2.1's. They are awesome. However they are unable to reproduce some of the lows I like listening to on some hip hop tracks. I'm planning to move up to a 5.1 system. I've read reviews and the Klipsch 5.1 Ultras are discontinued; and they have many people saying they just die off. Can someone recommend a THX certified 5.1 system? Preferably able to play 20Hz/25Hz. Also, looking to spend probably $250-350 ish~

I have the Z-5500s as well, and they definitely pound. however they sound no where near as good as even my HD515s in any other kind of music. your call.

Well it's Logitech or Klipsch. Nothing really changes there...

You might try going the receiver + full size speakers route. Pretty tight to do 5.1 on that budget. Physics alone tends to mean this wins over the above.

The Logis are listed @ 33Hz. To be more specific, I'm looking for a system that can play the note in Hurricane Chris's Ay Bay Bay. The is one long note played throughout the song that rumbles. My car can play it very well. However, it's like 5th hand and I do not have the specs on it.This is for my dorm, and I dont have that kind of money/space to spend; otherwise Id go that route :D. Are my Klipsch's just lacking power? or do I need to find something that can play below 35Hz?

Spending money in college isn't against the rules. It's called being responsible with money. I have a job I work ~15-20 hours a week getting paid $9.00 an hour. My monthly rent is $200 a month, plus around $100 for cable and gas/electric a month as well.

I have two credit cards and a checking account. One credit card I only use if a place doesn't take Visa *coughAllofMP3.comcough* and the other for when I need to use my credit line. I use checking for almost everything.

I am on state payroll, so I make exactly what I put in. If I worked 40 hours every two weeks I would get $360 per check, and getting paid twice a month gives me $720.

$720 - $300 = $400 for spending money per month.

Don't tell me "I pay for tuition" because I do to, but don't lie to yourself and to everyone here by acting like you pay it daily because you don't. Loans and federal aid exist for a reason! Lenders know you can't pay college off RIGHT NOW.

If you got a credit card, were SMART and RESPONSIBLE with it and used it for things where you made a plan to meet the monthly payments and pay it off someday (and preferably pay more than the minimum to avoid continuously paying interest charges alone) you will be fine.

Welcome to real life!

Sincerely,
A college junior.

What I choose to spend my money on is my choice. Same for you. I don't see any reason to justify a $1700 subwoofer at my stage in life. I also don't need people to teach me how to live my life, nor make statements which imply that I am STUPID and IRRESPONSIBLE. I prefer to make my purchases with cash. I am responsible with my money. I honestly do not give a sh*t about how many credit cards you have or how much your rent is. I am capable of simple arithmetic, as well. I come to this forum for advice relative to my topic. Yet every time, I get people who feel it's necessary to flame. If you are not part of my solution, you are part of my problem. I don't know you and you do not know me. Don't lecture me like you know who I am or have thorough knowledge of my background.

Settle the fuck down, dude. I never told you that you had to buy the $1700 subwoofer, and where did I say you were stupid and irresponsible? I am showing you an example of how you can purchase things which may seem out of reach, but are easily obtainable if purchased and managed the right way by giving you an example of what I have to work with. I'm trying to show you that using credit responsibly works out pretty well most of the time. This was NEVER about the fact that...holy shit...I have TWO credit cards! WOW!!!! Do you ever check your mail? Chances are you get at least one credit card offer per week. You're in college, and credit card companies FEED off of people our age (I'm 21) because they are hoping you just go purchase-crazy with the thing and get into debt so they can collect interest fees. And just for the record, my main credit card is from my bank and I've had it since I was EIGHTEEN. I got it at 18 so I could learn how to use one at a young age so I knew the responsibilities that come with a CC. I've made two total charges on my other one and I've had it for about a year.

Seriously, I'm the last fucking person to tell people how to "live your life". Jesus fucking Christ, man. Go to the bar and have a couple beers, you need it.
