My 256 GB 830 SSD demands some juggling when I want to manage system, steam folder and other stuff I use. I tried to play games from my HDD, but was too spoiled by SSD goodness and can't imagine going back to old tech for gaming :p

What I need is something cheaper than 840 PRO (it's about 1750 PLN for 512 GB which is about $600), but still with decent speed. As it will be mostly filled to the brim, I doubt the SandForce will do the trick (unless someone fixed the problem with SF controller loosing much speed with being almost filled). Was considering the basic 840 version, but am not sure if it would be good choice.

I have not been in market for SSD after I got the 830, so totally don't know what changed as far as controllers are regarded. When I was getting mine, general consensus was that SF based SSD suck, and you should avoid OCZ like plague :)

840 EVO should be one of the fastest and cheapest with its TurboWrite and TLC.

have you ever seen game benchmarks on different ssds? there's no difference
