Hi everyone, I will be picking up q6600 and a mobo this friday. I need some recommendations. I will be getting it via NewEgg and I found an EVGA mobo and 6600 on there that I like, good choice? Any other suggestions?
I price limit on mobo + cpu would have to be $550-600. I also already have 4gb of Gskill RAM, so the BIOS HAS TO SUPPORT MEMORY REMAPPING so that I will not go through hell trying to get it to work on Vista 64, cheers.
Also I am looking for another heatsink for it, will overclock it a little.

If you don't need SLI, go with the Abit IP35 Pro. If you like the P5K Deluxe, check out the P5K-E. If you need SLI, the one you chose is the best.

Do you plan on OC'ing? If so, I'd suggest getting the Q6600 from an etailer that will guarantee the G0 stepping (unless they're all G0's now... are they?), like clubit.com: http://clubit.com/product_detail.cfm?itemno=A1938452
 
for go Stepping Q6600 clubit sells ones that are sure win G0. newegg its a chance, and you might not be lucky.

As for mobo i would say the Gigabyte P35-DS3L if you dont need raid. and if you do the DS3R.

Ok I will get this one. I do not need SLI right now, but may get it going down the road. So, that Abit mobo would be the best type of a choice for me?P350 and 680i, which is better? What is the difference really?
Yes I do plan to OC a bit, and no, I do not need RAID.

The nForce 680i SLI is mainly for an SLI setup. If you don't need SLI, the P35 Express would be a better choice, since it runs cooler and can OC better.

SLI is only needed for high resolution 3D rendering. So, if you have or plan on getting a 1920x1080 LCD or higher, and want to game on it at native resolution, then keep SLI as an option. Otherwise, theres no need for it. SLI as an upgrade path... there should always be a better single card solution, and you could sell your old card to help offset the cost. So unless the upgrade path involves a large LCD monitor, stick to a single card solution.

Are these guys Legit? Has anyone dealt with them before?
 
ClubIT is 10000% legit, just bought (and received) my G0 Q6 from them. I've also ordered other components from them for other system builds. Good people.

Awesome, I bought the motherboard from newegg though, seems a bit cheaper for overnight shipping.
 
I have the Asus P5K Premium and ive had Zero problems with it, its been rock solid and great since the first hookup, very user friendly and good for OCing too!

The Deluxe or E, etc. model are probably very similar but a bit cheaper!
