Here's the deal. I need a new keyboard. Right now I'm using a "low-profile" keyboard - almost like a laptop keyboard. Typing on that thing isn't very convenient, keys sometimes don't register or get stuck or something else. Cleaning it is a mess too. What I'm looking for is, ideally, a "clicky" type keyboard (mechanical switches), no extra multimedia/gaming buttons or bullshit like that. Ideally it would have a detachable numpad (small desk, never use that thing anyway) and a generally small profile (hence no extra buttons). Detachable/no wrist rests is a bonus too. It will be used for typing and gaming. I looked into MS Sidewinder X6 - I like the detachable numpad, but the price and soft keys/extra keys are killing it for me. Help me out here.

I want a mechanical keyboard as well I'm deciding between Das Keyboard Pro or a Deck Legend.

I liked the Steelseries 7G when I demo'd it at a steelseries booth at a LAN but I don't like the Half-length Backspace key.

I've been looking for a clicky keyboard as well. Found some pretty nice information on keyboards at geekhack.org (forums pretty much dedicated to keyboards). I'm probably going to be ordering one of these sometime this week http://benippon.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=15660 .

Man, this is EXACTLY what I've been looking for. However for the price I can pick up 2 Spacesavers which should be near similar in size. I am looking through that forum though, so hopefully that'll set my mind on something. Thanks for replies everyone
