I really loved Ninja Gaiden on the original Xbox, although I no longer have that and have a PS3. I'm contemplating getting Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, although from what I hear I'll be disappointed. Any recommendations? I really loved the old Devil May Cry games as well.
Thanks

I hear the opposite, NGS2 seems to be good, although I hear that story mode isn't all that great ... but that might've been because the guys that said it already played through 360's.

I'm really tempted to get NG2, but it has become a fighting point for 360 fanboys. I can't tell what reviews are honest and what ones are just jealous fanboys trying to promote the 360 version.

I have NGS2 and I consider it good fun, although I haven't played any others. Not sure how much help that will be to you:(

Well, I haven't played ngs2, probably will be a good long while til i get around to that. But it seems like NGS2 is morel ike NGB. Someone mentioned that the enemies seems smarter on ngs2. But there are less enemies than NG2 which is also like NGB.

I can't give you a clear print out, but it should be good if you like ngb from what i keep on hearing.

The God of War games are extremely fun and have a good story to them as well. They're also decently long games unlike say heavenly sword.

Devil May Cry 4 - definitely. It's wonderful.
I haven't played NGS2, but normal NG2 was lousy. If you haven't played it, the first Sigma is really good.
They're re-releasing God of War 1 and 2 on a single disk later this year.
Dante's Inferno is due in January or so.
People rave about Heavenly Sword, although I didn't really like the demo.
It's not exactly the same genre, but Batman: Arkham Asylum has some H&S elements to it.
Conan's amusing based on the demo.

Brutal Legend's hack and slash demo was pretty fun, albeit a bit simple. Maybe try that demo out (is it out for PSN too?).

To add to the list, Wolverine Origins was a good hacknslash.

I agree with DMC4. I loved the game. not so much on GoW games thuogh, I hated the first, and the 2nd and 3rd seems to be the same to me. Heavenly Sword, like mentioned before sucks. I liked marvel ultimate alliance, it wasn't the best, but it was fun for a while. Never played the second.

Dante's Inferno seems to go the GoW/HS path so I won't like in most cases, but if you like the button pressing thing, you might. Darksiders is the next game I'm planning to get, seems very good.

One thing to keep in mind about Devil May Cry is that Ninja Gaiden was pretty heavily influenced by that series. DMC4's actually the closest thing to Ninja Gaiden as a result.
I personally think NG requires a little more finesse and is a little harder overall, BUT the challenges in DMC outweigh pretty much anything in NG. They require a lot of finesse, plus there's usually a puzzle element in play as well.

+1 for Heavenly Sword.

Might want to look into Dark Kingdom but it may be a bit outdated for today's standards.

If you have PS2 access, get Devil May Cry 3 right away. 4 is alright, but 3 is the peak of the series so far and far outshines 4.

If you get the second editon, put it on hard right away. If you get the original release, no need to change the starting difficulty.

Another PS2 gem, Godhand.

Demon's Souls just hit our shores. Its the other end of the spectrum, slow calculated fights, but its a damn good game.
