Recommend me a good UPS

Hopefully something that costs right around $100. That may be a bit hard for what I need it for, I'll be running 2 computers, DSL and a Router, and eventually 2 monitors. The good thing is I dont need it to run everything for an extended period of time. We have alot of brown outs here, the power never goes out for a long time it just flickers and I already lost a monitor and MBD to it. So I just need something that will prevent brown outs, and hopefully something of good quality.

You could get 2 smaller ones for about $50 a piece. The bigger they get the more you pay per VA. My 800VA APC UPS is great, but I got a great deal on it. CompUSA had a $20 instant rebate and a $20 mail in rebate bringing the total down to $100. Rated output is 540W. However, the deal is over, and normal price is $140. APC is a good brand, and two of their lower capacity models would probably do you fine.

I don't know if all of them have it, but on mine I can set the voltage range outside which the battery kicks in to custom settings, so your AC line voltage never drops below or surges above what you want it to.

for all that equipment, 100 dollars on a UPS is not sufficient. A 100 dollar UPS is relatively cheap; therefore, it will not be able to handle all that watts.

You may need to spend a little more. If so, you can try Belkin 1200 VA UPS .. However, I am not guaranteeing anything, I really don't know your computer specs (on 2nd PC) but I am able to run my "main pc" (look at sig) and it only uses 40 % of the power.

I wouldn't put it all on one, but if he put each computer on its own UPS, and he's only getting brownouts, he should be ok I think. Most consumer level UPS's don't run off the battery full time, they switch over to it when the incomming voltage goes outside a set range. If he's only using it for a second or three once in a while when he gets a brownout he should be ok. The battery won't have time to heat up that much. It will be hard on it, but it shouldn't crap out the first time or anything. I've overloaded UPSs for years and never had a problem. In fact, my 800VA one is the first I've had that was big enough to have capacity left over.

This is an excellent suggestion. I was trying to stick to the $100 price point, where there isn't really one UPS that would be comfortable with that load, but this should handle it pretty well. Nice one

Yep, had to pick up one for myself. Too bad the 1100VA is out of stock.
