I need a good switch. I run a few critical servers and use those cheap netgear 4 port $50 switches. They're ok but fail alot. I need something more reliable. Preferably with redundant power. at least 8 ports. can anyone recommend something? it does not have to be a layer 3 switch. no SFP ports/plugs. normal copper CAT5 will be used.

thanks for any help.

HP 8 port 1800-8g
Dell 2708
ect ect.

Been running quite a few HP's recently. Most likely a decent 1810-24g will be my next purchase,

+1 HP ProCurve
Their 8-port model is the 1810G-8 (J9449A) about $145 USD online (Buy.com)

dell switches for me, swear by them, havent had one die yet some going on 5 years now in use

I don't think the Procurve 8 ports do jumbo frames, if that matters to you. The 24 ports do. I use an 1800-24g.

Hmm, okay. I know the 8 port was missing something I wanted that the 24 port had... though I am talking 1800, not 1810.

Netgear GS71GT is a great switch. I get no errors with it ever. Its like $250 on NewEgg. The best switch I have ever used. Definitely no toy switch has all the key features too.
