Thinking about a change of scenery :D.

I'm currently using a HP w2207 as my primary, and while it isn't small, the craving for MORE has crept it's head in. At this size it's hard to justify paying $300+ for a 2 inch upgrade, but a 30 incher is probably out of my price range.

Anyone have good suggestions on a decent sized/priced monitor 24 inches +?

I have that same monitor also. I don't think it's worth it also to go to a 24". The 24" does have the higher res but, only 2 inches larger in screen size. I'd go 27" - 28" lcd monitor. Is this monitor upgrade be used for gaming purposes mainly? Moving up to a 27" you'll feel immersed when it comes to playing games. I really enjoy playing shooter games like UT3 and COD on a larger display. The move to a 24" didn't last me long. I still wasn't satisfied with its size.

Yea 27" sounds like a sweet spot. I'm grimacing though since I know this will mean I'll need to move to a arm mount since my desk just barely squeezes a 22 inch monitor in the center position, I'll need to raise the monitor about 5 inches up to accommodate a 27 incher.

I would recommend the ASUS MT276HE 27" display. I have it myself and from my personal experience with it, I am pretty happy. I compare it to the HP W220H 22" in pc gaming and I like it better on the ASUS 27". When I play the game Turok on the HP 22" display, the blacks in dark scenes look more grayish than black. I really can tell the difference when I was using my other Gateway FPD2485W 24" S-PVA panel monitor. Turok game looks much better because the Gateway 24" is an S-PVA panel vs the TN panel on the HP 22". The ASUS 27" monitor is a TN panel lcd like the HP and I was expecting it to be the same when I played the Turok game on it. But, the game actually looks good and I feel looks better on it. The ASUS 27" is a 16:9 1080P widescreen display. It's not 16:10 WS like the HP W2207H monitor. But, don't feel bad as the size of the ASUS 27" is much bigger that it won't really bother you. The thing about my other Gateway 24" monitor is that it suffers from motion blur or ghosting with its 8ms response time. The games do look vibrant and colorful but, playing high fps gaming, I see the motion blur occuring. I also have the Hanns-G 28" display. It was a good monitor until it crapped out. The issue with that one is that your likely to have a model with stuck/dead pixel on it. Also, I notice when a few month gone by, the monitor was looking washed out in color. The ASUS 27" is no high end Dell U2711 27" IPS panel lcd but, for $350 it's 1/3 the cost of the Dell 27". I have the ASUS monitor for a little over a week and played standard dvds as well as pc gaming on it and it looks good. On top of that the built in speakers are alot better than the built in speakers on the HP W2207H monitor.
