Recommend AMD GPU or Stay Away?

Hello.

I'm looking to upgrade the family (myself & 3 kids) GPU's. I have a 560 ti & my mobo only supports Crossfire. I've been considering upgrading my rig with 2 7770's but I am a bit concerned with what looks like horrible driver support from AMD.

I figured I would ask if anyone can recommend going AMD or stay away due to drivers. If I am correct in noticing what looks like a pretty lengthy run of problem drivers from AMD over say the past year?
 
If you do not already own another 7770, i see no point in getting a crossfire setup with midrange cards. Can't you get, guaranteed, higher performance with a more expensive card in a single setup?
 
I can only spend right at 200, to 230. 7770's in Crossfire look to be substantially better then my 560 ti at the same price.

P.S. In case anyone is scratching their head how I'll be upgrading the kids, its the hand me down system. Currently there is a 560 ti (standard), 460, & a 8800 gt. My 560 ti OC will go to the system with the 560 ti standard & thus the rest will scale down accordingly till the 8800 gt is a dust collector.
 
I had crossfire 6950s for over a year and never experienced driver "problems."

The only issue I had was that AMD was always a little slow to release CAPS to support brand new titles at launch.
 
What review are you looking at? This review here from techpowerup doesn't seem to like a 7770 crossfire is a good investment. At 1920x1080 its only about 20% faster then your current card. IMO save up and get a 7950 and overclock it as much as possible or just get a 7850 now do the same then plan on adding another down the road.
 
I'd sooner take a higher performance single card than SLI or CF. Less glitchy or chance of glitchiness.

They quoted it at 29% improvement over the GTX 560 Ti. That really isn't a upgrade still. You need be looking at a 7950 and overclock it for anything worthwhile or just wait longer for prices to come down. What is the GTX 560 Ti not living up to what you need? I don't have any issues with mine and I play at 1920x1080.

Did you see that I mentioned 1 of my kids is playing on a 8800 gt while the others have a 560 ti (standard clock) & a 460? Would you take a 29% improvement in all your games on your 560 ti if they could do it in just drivers? I would think yes. 2 7770's are about the same price as another 560 ti (with at least a 29% improvement) & everybody gets an increase in speed & texture quality.

The cheapest 7950 (just on comp USA) is about $125.00 more then I can afford. 1 gtx 460 is about the same price as a 7770 but lower performance (I believe), so it seems to me that 2 7770's is the most bang for my 200 to 225 bucks.

Although, I still haven't got an answer to my question. Are the AMD drivers really as bad as I've been reading, or are the issues pretty much comparable to nVidia's?

P.S. Considering how new the 7770's are, I think that 29% improvement over the 560 ti has a good possibility to increase with a bit of driver maturity. I could be wrong though.
