I'm so tired of reading about this stuff. Viewsonic don't list colour, half of newegg is probably wrong, Samsung is wrong...

I do maybe 50% movie watching, 30% desktop and 20% gaming.

Looking for something 19" or larger widescreen or standard, true 8-bit, DVI, 8ms or better. I guess at some point I'll care about response because I *do* like to play those highly anticipated fps and rpg games. $350 max I'll say...I'm from Canada, but prices vary wildly (ie TigerDirect versus a local store).

Thanks again :)

edit: I meant 19" or larger

I cant think of one single 8-bit 19inch lcd even being produced. Also a 19inch widescreen is pretty damn small. Its not even as tall as standard 17inch lcd.

I am using a Gateway FPD1975W and its supposed to be one of the better monitors but Im not very impressed. Hopefully a dvi cable can make things a little crisper.

Its above you range but the NEC 20WMGX2 fits your specs perfectly. 8 bit, 6ms.

Hi Travbomb, all this talk about your new series of high quality professional monitors makes me wonder- What is the BitBLT speed of your 90 series monitors? Thanks dude.

Same options at $400? ;)
What you're looking for is an S-IPS, P-MVA or PVA panel to get true 8 bit 16.7m colors. I think all 20" widescreens have one of those technologies...the 22's (except maybe for Samsung) use TN's (6 bit with dithering) and the the 24" and up use one of the previous technologies I mentioned. I can recommend the monitor I'm using (Acer F-20) which either has an S-IPS or P-MVA panel (even the service menu lists both but doesn't give a model # of either) which in any case is a true 8 bit 16.7m color and looks great after I gave it the Spyder2 pro treatment. I got mine from PC Universe for $389 shipped but it looks like they raised the price a little and are out of stock. :(

edit- I was confused, I actually got it from PC Connection and it's still $389 but they changed the free shipping policy from $300 to $499. They are on backorder anyway..http://www.pcconnection.com/ProductDetail?Sku=6223678
