.... that will fit my 4850x2 (about 11.5 inches long). I'm currently using a Lian Li PC-A70B as my gaming box but I would like to turn that into a server with about 14-15 HDDs, so I'm looking for a new case with plenty of airflow and long enough to house this beast. Top of my list is a Coolermaster RC-690 but I'm open to other ideas. I would also like to keep the price down to $100 or less.

How much are you willing to spend?

The Antec 1200 seems like a pretty good choice, but if you're willing to spend more, there are better cases out there.

About $100 or less. If I could spend more I would likely end up with another Lian Li mid or full tower.

Would a 4850x2 fit in a Coolermaster RC-690? Or even a CM 590?

Motherboard's width is 9.6" so use that as yardstick when looking pics of internals.
For that long card E-ATX support is pretty much only guarantee about case being able to house it.

E: You might be able to get more cheaply case capable to housing those HDDs than one with good space for long graphics cards.

Yes, I've been looking into that also. One can never research their computer needs too much :)

I agree with this.

There is no reason to use a $250 Lian Li full tower for hard drive storage and use a sub-$100 mid tower for gaming.

from experience with the RC-690, I would not suggest the case, especially if you're used to lian-li quality

the original CM Stacker was available on newegg for around $160 with some monster CM PSU (850 or 1000W, something like that) some time ago, solid case, decent reviews on the PSU, will hold your current system, or 14-15 HDs, or both, without much complaint

i have CM 590 and LOVE IT !
i run 2 4850 crossfire just fine and i have a Q9550 using a artic silver pro 7 cooler
before that i had a mini nija on a asus p5q pro motherboard no problems
i love all the fans i can put it in it my temps stay nice and cool consistantly
the quality of steel is very good if your wondering

I have been doing some research into rackmount cases, and unless I can find an inexpensive (read sub $100) used case to house 16 drives, I will be picking up a 16 or 20 bay Norco from Newegg. The wife is not going to be happy :(

Can't you consolidate a few of the HHD's? An old antec SX1040 would be able to hold around 10, you can find thenm on CL for free sometimes.

I have an RC-690 with a 4870x2 in it... fits with no problem. I'm guessing a 4850x2 would fit as well.
