I'd like it to be a plasma HDTV, and it has to be beyond 50 inches. If you can, post links of whatever you recommend. Any brands that are good in general? Any brands to stay away from? I'd love it if anyone has any resources for me to check out on this.

How is the Pioneer PDP-5060HD? Panasonic TH-50PHD8UK ?

All help is much appreciated! :D

I install them and the pioneer has a  picture.
Panasonic is good also can't go wrong with them.

Whats neat about the pioneer is you don't have to use the el cheapo speakers on the side. And it comes with its own wall mount. So you end up with a real nice looking and clean setup on the wall no extra bs.
It comes with a separate A/V box that you connect your other devices too which is innovative.

Also look into samsung, toshiba makes great plasmas also. But if you got the money you can't go wrong with pioneer. Bar none they have the best picture of any plasma I've yet to intall.

That pioneer is definitely sounding better and better...I think theres a new model out called the 5061HD, and I assume it's just more of the same in terms of quality.

Oh yea brands you want to stay away from are.

#1 Westinghouse - Washed out pictures <- they used to make fridges.....
#2 Maxent - Same boat ^

Yea from my understanding the only differences between the 5060 and 5061 being the 5061 has a built in cable tuner card which your not gonna use anyways.
If you go digital cable especially a 1080i varient always get a separate box.

I've done several elites also great picture granted but the difference is nearly unnoticable.
But if you got the $ for the elite series go for it. BTW Magnolia carries all that stuff and they are dare I say bestbuy so elite series can be purchased from them also. Or you can probably find one from some of those other mom and pop shops. :D

While that elite does look great, the $$$ do kinda pop out at me. Since this isn't going to be for me, I'm looking for something with great picture quality out of the box, but they aren't extreme home theater aficionados. I'm leaning towards that Pioneer 5061HD still. Thanks for the tip on Magnolia BTW, there seems to be one of those close by. Any other good options out there?

Also, thanks Wahrscheinlichkeit and Eshelmen for the info!

Other from those listed I would say take a look at the Mitsubishi PD-5065 plasma.
Its right up there with pioneer in terms of quality of picture.

Gotta work now. :)
