I am upgrading my system (specs in sig + 6600gt, aspire x-plorer case) So I need a new psu. My current one is generic so saying it has 400 watts is like saying a ford escort is as fast as a BMW.
I read the FAQ and reccomendation FAQS and they are not helpful. I don't want to spend more than $60 shipped and it needs plenty of 4 pin molexes. (at least 7)
BTW, I preffer buying from the egg.

OCZ Powerstream 420.
Hands down best stability/price ratio.
EDIT: Er must have skipped the second line when reading... either way, $60 is pretty low for 7 power connectors.

Don't be fooled by the wattage rating... it has the most power where it really counts (15A on each +12V line is a lot). You don't have a very demanding rig anyways, though I wouldn't try to reuse this PSU if you were upgrading to a higher-draw A64 system.

The Powerstream 420W, while a great PSU (I have one), is out of his range at $106. It'd probably be overkill too. :p

Try these

Well I don't want to spend more than $300 total on a PSU/Case/video card. I'm gettign a leadtek 6600gt (149 after rebates) and a aspire x-plorer (59) and that's 227.99... so yeah I gess 73 shipped would be fine. I was goign to get a fortron 400 watt psu, but I realized they got rid of the R1 model, and the R model is supposedly flawed.

That's pretty but if I eventually upgrade to an athlon 64 (which I won't, but assume I did) would it be sufficient?

Wow, I can get a 420 Powerstream for $105 CAD..... that is insanely high priced...
ZZF has an Enermax Noisetaker for cheap, Free 2nd Day Shipping...
I'm sure you can pay a few dollars tax...

This will be enough for an A64 based system, with a 6800 Ultra/X850XT PE.

I really prefer buying from newegg so I can order everything from one place.

True... but that'd be pushing the line a little bit. 29A total is a lot, but I'd try to shoot for something that gives more headroom. After all, spending all that money for a 6800U/X850XT-PE and then skimping on the PSU is a bad idea... yet some people still do it.

... I can get a Powerstream 420W for $105 also. Read my post above^^^ if you want to keep it within Newegg.

what about this rosewill PSU:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817182005
the reviews say the +12v rail is very stable...
Rosewill is to be avoided. They are re-branded off something else, that's for sure, and they are not exactly the brand you'd be proud to put in your box. What kind of reviews are you reading anyway, are they getting their values with MBM5 or something? Get a real PSU.

not sure about those. I am kind of biased towards the antec as I am sure you casn tell. I have an antec case which I love. So I want the an Antec PSU becuse I know it will fit perfect.

i have that rosewill psu, it runs really good, but the 3.3v rail sags abit. id say got for the fortron 350. its the best psu for the money.

off topic: Just wondering, is the aspire x-plorer a good case? the reviews seem so-so. Some are good, some suck, some are excellent... it's basically the only good looking budget case I can find..
