Im looking for a 92 mm fan to use with my SP-97. Ive got a tornado on it now, but even at the lowest setting on my fan controller, its still sorta loud. I would really like something thats fairly quite, and something has has decent performance. On full power, the tornado cools very well, but at low, its only ok. Right now, my 2500 @ 3200 is idle at 41 degrees. The max it really hits under intense gaming would be 50, mayb 51. any quiet fans that can match this performance?
 
panaflo M1a. 48 cfm @ 30dba (something close to that). I use it on my xp-90 and it works pretty sweet.

those temps seem high for that tame of an overclock with that heatsink. what is the ambient in the room? what voltage do you need for that overclock?

I had one 2500 @ 3200 that only required 1.675v (my mobo undervolted) and a friend of mine had a 2500 @ 3200 that required 1.8v (which sucks ass). Maybe your HS is mounted funny? Those temps just seem odd to me.
 
agreed for the messed up temps.

might want to try seating that bad boy again.

my old SP-97, now in my sister's rig, keeps my old DLT3C at 11x200@1.650, temps below 40 C, tornado fan running at about 6 volts (2400 RPM).

fans with corrective vanes are really a good idea on a heatsink fan, even if the only ones commonly sold are the insanely high performance and insanely loud delta FFB0912EHE and the sunon PMD1209PMB1-A (re-branded and sold as the vantec tornado).

what air they move comes out of the fans going more-or-less straight, allowing it to flow nicely between the fins of a heatsink, quite unlike most fans.
 
This proc sucks, its not stable unless its at 1.8. The temps would b lower if the voltage wasnt so damn high.
 
Ouch, 1.8V to run at 2.2GHz... even my old 2500+ wasn't that bad (running a Mobile now). I'm running the 92mm Panaflo M1A on my SP-97, great fan. I just wish it'd come with RPM monitoring, but that's not a very big deal.
