I realize there are probably a couple thousand of topics like this and i hate to do this for my first post here but can anyone recommend an LCD for me? My budget is about $450 CAD max (including tax). Its pretty rare that i have this amount of money to spend on a single item so i want to get the best i can.

So far I have bought a LG L1952TX ... Considering the price (270 CAD) I liked it but returned it because it seemed like the colors didn't stay in the lines. Duno the technical term but say the refresh image in Firefox .. the colors seemed to bleed though the lines. I then got a Samsung 940BF which I liked alot but seemed to yellow and had VERY bad back light bleed on all 4 sides. I exchanged it for another and it was the same. I then got a 931C and its was the same :( heh ... so now I'm looking at the LG L204WT but it looks like it would seem to small now after all these 19" LCDs .. kinda like a 17" just wider :(

I would love a 22" wide LCD but it looks like every single one (of the ones in my price range) has pretty bad bleeding.

Any help would be great.

The 20.1" wide screens have a height roughly equivilent to that of a 18" 4:3 Monitor (if one existed.) You will lose about an inch of physical height compared to a 19" 4:3.

For gaming its a matter of preference. I like widescreen gaming because it seems more realistic. The monitor fills more of your natural field of vision.

There is some noticeable backlight bleed on the LG 204 along the bottom. It's not a problem for me...as I only notice it when in a dimly lit room with nothing being displayed on the screen, but if you are sensitive to it....I imagine it'll be an issue.

You should prolly try to spend some time adjusting the monitor. The brightness contrast and color settings will help control the backlight bleed and color balance.

Yea ... Saw it in store (LG) and it looks tiny next to a 22" wide. I guess ill have to wait for a 22" in my price range to come along with acceptable back light bleeding. When watching video on a monitor with significant bleed I end up looking at the bleed instead of the video lol

Sucks though since ill have to live with my dieing CRT untill then :(
