So I have 4x1gb sticks of 3200 ram in my DFI n4 ultra d mobo... First it was a pain to even get it to boot. Now that it boots (with very picky timings), both XP and Vista(64bit) only recognize 2gb. Anyone have any ideas??? I know the mobo supports 4gb....
 
Yep, the motherboard supports all 4 ram slots being populated but cant run it as fast.
The way it is I'm afraid.
You can try clocking it higher but if left to default it will slow the ram down.

If not all the ram is being recognised in Windows but is on boot, slow the ram down to see if you can get it visible in Windows.
Thats an odd issue though.
 
I can back it all the way down to 100mhz and Windows still won't recognize it. :(
 
speed doesn't matter for recognition, only stability. they're all the same sticks, right?

memory hole remapping enabled in the bios?
 
Sorry Eclipse, I changed my sig to reflect the Patriot RAM I recently added. Thank you for the tip on enabling "Memory Hole ReMapping", I saw that on the DFI forum as well, I will try that when I get off work. Any other suggestions???

As far as speeds, the thing is just incredibly picky about what timings it will and won't boot with.

yeah, you're SOL since you mixed two different kits on a DFI board. it's ignoring one set because the SPDs don't match. there's nothing you can do besides:

1. different motherboard
2. get 2 sticks of something you already have
3. reflash one kit's SPD to match the other

not trying to hijack the thread here but...

i have 4 sticks of the exact same RAM and Vista 64 bit only shows 3.2GB???? :confused:
