Quite a while ago I purchased a Radio Shack NiCD/NiMH 6-Hour Battery Charger. I don't think this was a "smart" charger as it only has "Safety-guard protection timer". I also have two 1600mAH AAs.

Now I want more AAs. I see eBay as an awesome source for batteries. Should I buy a whole new charger? Should I buy batteries to stick into the RadioShack Charger? There are some 2200mAH AAs which seem much better than 1600. Are "Smart" Chargers really 'smart'? Can I put in a semidrained battery and will it charge it back to normal? Or will it overcharge?

Thoughts?

At fry's electronics they had (4) AA 2300mAH batteries w/ charger for 9.99 , they don't have a memory or anything , very very good batteries.

a smart charger will not overcharge.

what are these batts gonna be used for? if size doesn't matter but the capacity does, go for sub-c size as they last much, much longer.
