well for starters my system configuration is as follows:
axp2500+@3200+ (running stable this way since sept/oct last year)
1024mb PC3200 GEIL memory (2x 256mb and 1x 512mb)
shuttle an35n ultra (3 ram slots)

anyhoo, i recently added the 512mb stick of ram to my system and it began to reboot randomly. i swapped two of the sticks around, and that didn't seem to help. so i dropped my overclock to stock spec and now the system is very stable. this indicates to me that perhaps the memory is bad -- not stable at it's rated speed.

however i ran memtest+ and let it get through 50% of a pass and it didn't have any errors. maybe i should leave memtest+ on tonight when i go to bed and check it in the morning.

anyone have any input? should i rma it asap or do you think i could get it to work?

I would RMA it. It's not giving you the performance that you require that it's rated at.

You need to run a minimum of couple of loops of Memtest86+ to see if you get any memory errors.
If you get any errors then try each stick by itself.
No errors singlely but errors with mutliple stick probably means the sticks wont work together.
If your lucky swopping the sticks around will fix it.
If not then its get a different make/speed/etc/etc.

Luck........... :D

do you have it set for dual channel? In some cases you can have dual channel active with 2x256 in one channel and 1x512 in the other - but sometimes its just not possible - having 1024 total memory is still faster than 512 in dual channel - so turn dual channel off and see -

as far as i know, it's off.

i rearranged the sticks once more and my system's reliability is acceptable (no reboots in approx 24 hours, and WOW does somethign goofy every 8 hours of play or so)... so i'm not going to worry about it -- this system isn't long for the world anyway. i'm itching for the a64. can anyone recommend a bitchin' deal on a 3200+?
