anyone ever purchase any a/v receivers from newegg? their prices are outstanding compared to anything local. i would be able to save 150-200 dollars. only things that scare me are shipping something like that and the subpar warranties. anyone have any thoughts or experience with this? thanks.

never ordered a receiver from them, but have ordered several other items and always happy.

i would feel OK about ordering from them. i've never had a problem with anything I ordered; plus MOST receivers are built pretty well, and from my experience, can take a beating :) which receivers were you looking at? and what are you hooking them up to?

be sure to checkout the shipping costs, My last receiver was pretty heavy so im sure would cost a bit to ship.

shipping was free. I was looking at the Harmon Kardon here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882121058

I actually already purchased it at my local Best Buy for 599.99. When I saw newegg had it SO much cheaper, I began to consider returning this one to Best Buy and ordering from newegg.

I actually love the receiver so far, unfortunalty the video output won't play nice with my tv though, so I'm unable to use the HDMI out on it. :( Apparently my LG 50" plasma (720p) just doesn't like it. I have a 26" 1080p that it works fine. with. Anyway.... it SOUNDS amazing.

Get a Denon...they are awesome

Buy.com has a good selection at good prices....have bought several Denons from there and I have never had a problem.

never bought A/V stuff from the egg... but I have always received top notch customer service from them. I wouldn't expect any thing less even with AV purchases.

I'd have no problems ordering that from newegg. Is $200 worth the return & reorder hassle to you? It'd also be an opportunity to switch brands/models to something that works with your TV. Look around, it could just be the plasma does not play will with anybody.

I'd check to see if they are an authorized reseller before I bought an AVR from them. Many AV brands (Denon, for example) won't service a receiver if it was purchased from an unauthorized source.

all good info guys. thanks for the help. as to whether 200.00 bucks is worth the return? yup. :) especially with sales tax locally and none from newegg. i ordered it today. hopefully all is well when it shows up. thanks again.

It could be your input device doesn't like an HDMI repeater in the chain. Is it a cable box that wont work? Do you not get any picture at all from HDMI?

Ya, OP, before you "save" yourself $200, check to see if newegg is an authorized dealer first. Otherwise your warranty may be null and void.

it was a cable box, also an xbox 360, but i didn't try the 360 very long. you think it may just be the cable box it doesn't like?

There are a lot of cable boxes that wont work with a repeater in between.
