I'm going to get a new sound system and turn one of my rooms into a game room.

Its going to have (in time) a PS3 Wii XBOX360 PC 42in 1080p Screen and audio

Need help with spkers and receiver for all of these devices, i'm using onboard sound, willing to change if i must~

7.1 seems to be the new thing and if im buying new might as well get that.

Suggestions, im pretty nubby on the audio stuff. Thanks

Well hell, up in the air =

Adcom GTP-870HD Preamp,
Adcom GFA-7807 7x300 watt amp,
Morel's Octave series speakers.

And then you can buy new neighbors...

(I'd say a nice Harman/Kardon A/V unit with a good set of Polk speakers would be good ;) )

Up in the air? Don't ever say that. One could spec you a full 7.1 set of Klipsch Klipschorns or similar for $11,000. :)

I'd suggest sticking with mid-to-high range Polks, Infinitys, etc.

SLS speakers are very interesting from a techincal point of view, having a 5" ribbon tweeter. Limited vertical range (just standing up, you lose part of the treble ;) ), but they sound fantastic.

Good speakers for the price:

Fluance
Infinity Primus
HTD
AV123
STREEM
ect...

Receiver:
Harman Kardon 340-360 series
Yamaha 5690
Many other choices

Get a Logitech Harmony Remote (I have the xbox 360 version), it'll tie in everything into one remote, that way you dont need a receiver that handles absolutely EVERYTHING or 50,000 different remotes.

Plug the PS3 and computer into your TV, their audio outputs into the receiver. The 360 and the Wii can plug into the receiver with the component output going to the TV. Then just set everything up with the harmony and you just have to press one button to initialize any activity (it will turn on all required components for the activity, set the receiver to the right input, set the TV to the right input, and can control the devices accordingly with one remote. Very easy and intuitive.
