Reccommend me a PSU

i wouldn't trust it, $36 for 500w.

Sytrin Nextherm 460w. it's $70~ and is very, very good, according to JonnyGuru @ www.jonnyguru.com

You have a 7900GT, an Opty and a 10K Raptor and you don't have enough money for a good PSU?

Fool.

I am getting a 7600GT and may be upgrading later,
the Opty is a 146 that I got for $143 off Monarch,
the Raptor is an overpriced upgrade that is almost required to have fast load speeds.

If the Sytrin Nextherm is as good as everyone says it is, I will just spend the extra $20

I was thinking something along those lines.

Forget the Raptor and combine the difference in the price of a Raptor and a good 7200 RPM HD with the $50 you have allocated for a PSU that most likely will die and take some of your components with it and buy a decent PSU.

instead of a raptor, buy 2 7200's, raid, and a better psu. It'll be almost as fast, cheaper, and more money for a good psu.

Your not going to find a proper 500w psu for 50, it just doesnt work that way. You should get the 450w XClio, itll handle what youve got and its roughly your spending limit. Seriously, dont ever skimp on a psu, its one of the most important components of a computer system.

And I don't need 500w, I said 450w :p

Gonna buy the XClio....

Ughh I need to stop skimming posts and read them :D

Good choice, its a nice psu.

I was using Xclio's for builds abotu 6 months back and they are extremely good PSU's FWIW. Sort of hidden gems really. I have one on my own system now.

I have a question about the XClio though. On a review of it ( http://www.extremeoverclocking.com/reviews/cases/Meridian_XClio_450W_3.html ), it says it comes with an SCFT adapter to keep the fans running after the case is off. It made me do an O RLY? Because I was going to buy one seperately to keep the components cool after shutoff. Does it really come with one, because the Egg makes no mention of it. Also, how quiet is this thing? Newegg says nothing about the sound levels, and the last thing I want to do is void a warantee by installing aftermarket fans.

synaps3,

I'm really tempted to say "Just buy the cheapest POS PSU you can find" and then quit reading this thread, but I'm going to try one more time. You have questioned / are questioning everything and everyone and don't seem to be listening to what anyone tells you.

It appears that what you want is for someone to tell you to buy an XYZ brand POS PSU for $50 and everything will be hunky dory. Well, it ain't that way. You don't get sumthin' for nuthin'!
You get what you pay for.

Uh, that does not answer my question.

And I am not a moron, because I am not getting the raptor as everyone has told me not to. The XClio just seems like the best option, and I am on a budget here. I do not have a 7900GT, and probably will never get one. I am purchasing a 7600GT, which draws signifigantly less power, and was wondering if there was a good PSU that would allow me to easily upgrade later.

Please don't act like I am ignorant, because I am not. From my experience, you get what you research for. I have purchased $60 PSUs that totally sucked, and gotten others for around $20 on clearance that are still running great today. Therefore, I believe in going with what reviews well and seems to work great. The XClio seems like my best option, and it will probably be the PSU I purchase.

But back to my questions--
