reccomendation for video card

I am looking into buying a new agp video card for between $200 and $300, any thoughts or suggestions, i have about a week before my taxes come.

I don't have a BFG 6600GT but I heard lots of good things about them and it's hard to beat it at that price point.
 
6800 beats a 6600gt, of course it is marginal. However with the BFG 6600gt it is overclocked out of the box, brining it within a hair to the 6800...plus it's nice to get a lifetime warranty :) and Dual DVI
 
The 6800 will smoke the 6600GT. I believe that outpost.com had the bfg 6800 oc's for 250$ as well, and their chance of unlocking was pretty high. Might want to check them out...

I guess every videocard review the shows the 6600GT and the 6800 almost even was due to crack smoking by the authors then ;)

Yes, you have the potential to unlock more shaders with the 6800. Stock vs stock they are almost even though.
 
6800 NU in no way SMOKES a 6600gt. IT does however beat it only be a few hairs...watch your word usage ;)
 
The 6800nu beats the 6600gt in HL2 I think and the fact that it might be able to be softmodded and OCed enough to be able to "smoke" an OCed 6600gt makes it a great buy.

Trust me, even if you OC'd a 6800 NU it would not entirely SMOKE a 6600gt OC'd ...what's with you people. Now if you are talkinga bout comparing a GT or U and a 6600gt, then yes, I woudl agree.

But what if you volt mod the 6800NU and unlock all the pipelines. Then get it clocked to 600Mhz GPU and maybe 400Mhz memory. Would it smoke it then? Yes it would!
 
600mhz? Hell getting an ultra to 600mhz would be a feat.

I'm talking unlocked pipes plus maybe a gt or close to ultra gpu speed (something more reasonable...) and maybe almost a gt ram speed and it'd def smoke it.

The 6800NU will smoke a 6600GT if AA is enabled.

W/O AA the 6800NU beats a regular 6600GT by about 5-10% but with AA the difference is more like 50% (due to the 256 bit memory that the 6800 uses).

This is correct. Sure, you could get a 6600GT and get close to the 6800 in terms of FPS in non AA/AF settings, but those frames arent going to be too pretty :)
