this is what i have:
yamaha rp-u100
i've had it for about 7 years now. i LOVE it.

input to the device will be coax/optical from my Asus P5K-E

it has left/right speaker outputs as well as a subwoofer output. (and some preamp recording output?)
speakers out specs: 30 watts x 2, RMS, 20 - 20,000 Hz, 8 ohms, less than 0.08%, THD
sub output level/impedance: 2.0V/1.7kW

i am looking to fill this speakerless void. i'm coming from a laptop speaker and airplane headphones, so anything will sound great. haha.
looking to spend around $75. would be awesome to have a sub. must be 2.1 (obviously)
i really really would like something cool looking. black is badass. very badass. small or large, i don't mind.
uniqueness is awesome.

thanks in advance.

I would recommend Insignia's at Best Buy. Gosh now they are 90 dollars... but I got mine for under 50 a pair, and I think they sound great for the price that I payed for them. Plus they are shiney black and they look awesome with the carbon fiber cones.

Really fast ninja edit....
I think I read your post wrong, I thought you had a reciever...
oh well :(

i was looking to get a powered sub in there too.
i dont need tons of power. this is a simple bedroom setup for when the headphones bug me.

ninja edit - it would have to be a powered sub with coaxial in, so i can use the sub out on the receiver :)

To get a 2.1 system, you'll need $200. Subs are pretty expensive; don't expect to get one that makes anything sound better at all until about $90.

Don't get the Insignia's. At $50 they were worth it, but now that they've almost doubled in price, there's better deals. I would recommend the Polk R150's instead.
