rebuilding a partition table?

I have 2 identical 6gb notebook drives. One had a working win98 install, but now has had its partition tables get messed up (I think). The other hard drive has a working partition table, but I deleted something I shouldn't have, so win98 does not boot.

is there a free solution to rebuilding the partition table?
