alright, for you raid experts out there:
At work we've got our server with a 4 drive raid-5, well the 4th disk chrashed and we are attempting to rebuild it with the adaptec firmware. Unfortunately the firmware gives no progress checks what so ever and its been running for about 36 hrs and still said "Progress: Pending". Now I expected it to be 24-36 hrs for the rebuild as it is about 200gb. Does anyone know how long this will take or if this is atleast heading in the right direction? I'm starting to think that its not working but im not raid expert so if anyone has any thoughts I would highly appreciate it.

thanks

btw its an Adaptec AAR-2400A

you did replace the disk? Or was there some other failure? It is possible that a rebuild takes a looong time, though >36 hours seems extreme, then again I am no expert. Maybe call Adaptec?

ya i did replace the disk

tried calling adaptec and they said my waranty was expired so to get a responce i would have to pay $80..... so my boss said screw that

I hate to tell you but PROGRESS: PENDING means it hasnt even started...I think you need to check your settings...maybe reboot ..I'd wager it'll take 12-16 hours atleast but you can use the machine and have it rebuild in the background
