Hi,
Does anyone have a reasonable guess as to when they think the 7800GT cards will be released? I know that during the last round of video card refreshes NVIDIA started with the 6800 Ultras, but I don't remember how long the delay was between the release Extreme/High End & High/Mid range cards were...

A 7800GTX is out of the question for me as far as justification on price/budget vs. performance, but a 7800GT, or possibly a 6800Ultra/GT at a lower price point is reasonable.

Thanks.

I think they are dropping the GT indicator.
I thought that the line would be:
7800GTX
7800GT
7800

At any rate, whatever the card slotted immediately below the GTX is the one I'm looking into.

Thanks!

I am willing to bet about when ATI finally releases crosssfire in the mainstreme to steal some of their thunder.

Anyone remember how long after the 6800ultra the 6800gt was released?
You'd have to figure that while making these GTX's they're filling up the reject bins with 7800's.

The Ultra was announced in the middle of April last year as a preview but wasn't available till late June, in the interem period like within in a week or two after the preview was done the GT was annouced, but both were semi available when they were released, albeit at extremely small numbers for the Ultra and the GT was more available but quickly ran out of stock.

Ordered my GT the day they became available (June 28th 2004) and had it next day. At that I was extremely lucky. I still feel sorry for a lot of the guys that were holding out for X800XT's, PE's and 6800 Ultras cause it was months before they became available in quanity.

I'm sure they are going to ride this wave until the next ATI release. They can then spoil every announcement ATI makes.

When (if?) the R520 is released you will start hearing more from Nvidia maybe even a GTX ultra, or a wider release of the dual gpu cards.

Right now they have no reason to release lower end models of the 7xxx series, with the 6xxx series selling so well.

The GTX _is_ the GT version of the card. :)

EDIT: I am guessing that Nvidia is working on an Ultra version of the card, but they are having heat issues with it... I have a feeling we'll see another two slot cooling design if an ultra does emerge due to those heating issues... or maybe one with water a waterblock on it by default.. that would be very interesting. :)
