Anyone know of either a VST or standalone vocoder that emulates the sounds of vintage vocoder gear such as the moog vocoder? preferably in real-time (<10ms latency) and also something with its' own synthesis engine, for simplicity's sake.

thanks in advance

take a look at the microkorg, that's a good start, or if you want something a little more kickass, grab the ms2000b

Check out the Akai DC Vocoder VST plugin. http://www.zzounds.com/item--AKAVSTDC
I use it along with a hardware vocoder on my Alesis Micron and actually like the Akai plugin better! Unfortunately it's hard to find because Akai is not selling it anymore. Not sure about the situation, but check out that zzounds.com link. It has a nice sample audio clip.
edit: BTW Akai was a very well-respected name in synthesizers in the '80s, and this vocoder plugin is the best I've found. Although, you will have to pay or use less-than-reputable means to obtain it.

oh cool i didn't realize akai had got into the vst game at some point

i used to have their xr-10 drum machine way backa nd currently i use on of their mpd24 pad trigger controllers

i'll have a look into that plug

anyone ever try Native Instruments Vokator?

ages ago before they discontinued it, i didn't get into it cause i didn't know how to use it but it seemed very powerful.
