Realtek AC'97 Drivers...

I recently decided to checkup on any new drivers I needed to install for my Neo2 Plat board. There was an update on audio drivers, so I went ahead and downloaded the update. For some reason or another after restarting my pc I could not get any sound. I tried every troubleshooting method I could think of, and still nothing. I decided to reinstall them and for some strange reason my sound was back after I received a "Yes I want to Restart My PC Now" "No, I will restart my pc later" window. After disabling all the external drives I had plugged in I restarted my pc. Yet again I had the same dillemma...no sound. So I reinstalled them again, and of course, I had sound. I'm not sure what's up but I know if I restart my pc I will lose sound again. Anyone suggest anything?
 
you have sound but lose it after reboot...

after reboot, go into control panel -> sounds and audio devices -> click audio tab. sound playback default device should be realtek 97. check if this is changing on you after reboot.
