Hey guys.. i have this VERY VERY VERY VERY old computer and i would like to know if there is any old operating systems THAT WORK that I could maybe put in a floppy and run off of that... because it seems thats the only way to do it. =-/

just so you get an idea as of how old it is.... it only has 640 kb of memory =-P

oh yeah... it has a floppy called Navcom 6 =-/

i just want to test it out for the fun of it, heh

thanks

Really old? 640kb ram? That's not really old...

:p

Windows 3.1
I dont think windows 3.1 would work on 640kb ram. I believe it required at least 4mb. There are some unix distros that can fit on a single floppy, although there isnt much you can do with them.

Come on that's not that old.. I've still got an apple II+ that runs it came with only 48k of memory and I had to buy a 16K integer card to run integer basic.. NOW THAT"S OLD

heh thanks.. i tried it before but i found out it doesnr really fit on a floppy and this thing doesnt have a cd drive
=-/

I tried it .. I got it to fit on a floppy BUT the computer wont read it... it says "remove disks or other media Press any key to restart"... and if i do that and hit enter it says "missing operating system"

btw: can i have dos 6 or w/e

Yeah, isn't there a unix program called Lunix for 486 or older computers?

"Dude, you've got dual floppies?!?!? That's so COOL!!!"

I remember the day when that was exciting. Wow I'm old.

There's a "Lunix" operating system for the Commodore 64. Could that be what you're thinking of?

Does it have a 1.44mb or 720kb 3 1/2 drive?
or
Does it have a 1.2mb or 360kb 5 1/4" drive?

If it isn't reading your floppy it may be a low density drive, making things difficult.

If you PM me your email address I'll email you the 3 1.44mb floppies of DOS 6.2.

I really doubt you can run anything other than dos. I recall my dads xt with a 40mb drive only ran dos and some menu program. I doubt you can get far with it...

Or CP/M86...

Or the ELKS Linux kernel...

Or Minix...

You could probably get DOS 3.3 to work on the machine. I think it will fit on a 720k floppy. That's what I had to use on some of the computers when I was in high school. They were rather outdated by the time I used them but they still worked.
