First off, here is a quick run down of my system

Intel P4 2.6C @ 3.26ghz ( cooler master hyper 6 43* idle...its hot as balls in my room )
Abit AI7 with latest bios
1GB dual Channel (4x256 nitro/adata) @ 250mhz 2.5-4-3-7 :D
Sapphire 9800 pro 128mb@ 440/370 ( vga silencer+AS5 ) with catalyst 4.2's ( tried 4.4,4.5,4.7...all suck on my system )
Audigy 2 ZS with all the patches/updates
Windows Xp pro

Anyways, I run UT2k4 @ 1280x1024 full details with 4xAA/8xAF. It runs very smooth until one or two characters pop up on screen, the the frame rates drop in the mid 20's! If there are a lot it drops to like 15-20 then shoots back up to 60 when i turn around. Now..I think its because I have vsync on b/c my moniter only supports [email protected] do you guys think?

What gametype? If it's Onslaught then that's normal. You're going to have to turn off AA and AF, your card can't handle it.

Yeah, it does run a lot smoother without vsync....what exactly does vsync do besides prevent tearing? My moniter only supports 60hz @ 1280x1024....so I guess I need a new one.
