help!
some file got attached to a download. it has 'tapped' whatever i search on any search engine. anything i search for always comes up with the same 10 results for everything. they are mostly advertisments for porn and viagra!!!!!!!!!
I tried an adware remover that got rid of loads of crap but didn't shift it. its not a browser plugin or a virus. i'm stuck
i know that this is not a suitible thread for this forum but the most annoything is that i cannot search for help!!!!!
could someone please give me advice or the address to a forum or site where i can get help.

Where's it redirect TO? That'd help figure out what specific one needs to be removed.

Check your Add/Remove Programs for suspicious entries (sometimes it actually shows up in there, weird, I know) and try a different anti-spyware app.

I haven't needed a spyware remover in a long time or I'd recommend a specific one - good protection and good browsing habits make it very unlikely to get hit. Kaspersky AV + Kerio Firewall + Firefox + good habits = no spyware.

Very popular alternative to IE the spyware bait. Other fun features like easy adding of extensions, Adblock being a very popular one that does exactly what it says.

You will go far Grasshopper. ;)

Anyway, you will like Firefox, but the problem still exists on your machine, even though Firefox is the longterm solution to such annoyances. After you get to the point where you can go anyplace without the spyware stopping you, get another program called HijackThis. Download it, make a log and post it here. Then we can begin to clean up the mess.

After that, we will discuss the many virtues of the mysterious Firefox. :)




P.S. You may also want to run programs Spybot, AdAware and Microsoft Antispyware Beta.
