What are real IPS displays today with high refresh rates that also include gsync?
(not the ips-like ahva ones....)

from what i know the only panels which are ah-ips from LG are the to ultrawides 3440x1440 100hz gsync. Acer X34 and Asus PG348Q. But i can tell you that theres no difference in panel quality to my Acer xb270hu (same as xb271hu or Asus pg279q).

What's the difference between the two?
X34 is the ultrawide with a 3800R curve (3440x1440). The XB1 is a flat 16:9 (2560x1440). But as far as I know the XB1 is using the same AUO AHVA panel as the ASUS PG279Q, not a LG AH-IPS.

Thanks.

I think 3440x1440 is the way to go nowadays. 2560x1440 is kinda oudated by now.

I disagree. Maybe when they start supporting DisplayPort 1.3 or HDMI 2.0 and can support 144hz+. For now the X34 (and the ASUS with the same panel) are overpriced for their questionable quality control and "only" 100hz.

After much deliberation I personally purchased an ASUS SWIFT ROG PG279Q (1440p, IPS, G-SYNC, 165Hz) and its a beautiful, well polished display. When the ultrawides reach this level of quality, then I will consider them again.

You'd need a lot of graphic power to drive 4k @ 144hz+. Maybe when 1080Ti come out, in SLI mode

"only 100hz" + gsync is pretty freaking good.

It is good, but for over $1k I feel they deserve DisplayPort 1.3 so it can push over the 100hz that the panels themselves almost certainly can surpass. And the QC panel lottery game is ridiculous at that price point.

I think we'll need another generation or two before you can do SLI and 144hz+ @4k and get high end gaming settings. I seriously doubt 1080Ti in SLI will do it any justice. Of course we'll also need good monitors. Just because they say they are going to make them won't mean they will be any good. Especially the early models.

I'm not aware of any 120+hz LG IPS panels. I do know that Acer/Asus and others selling the 144/165hz "IPS" panels are actually using AUO's AHVA panels, and supposedly licensed the term "IPS" from LG.

Just to clarify for those who might think that these panels are VA and thus inferior to IPS, they are not.

AU Optronics, who makes panels for a number of different display manufacturers, calls their IPS implementation AHVA, but it has no relation to a VA panel, and is just branding to avoid using the IPS trademark. Same deal as Samsung's PLS, but with a much more confusing acronym.

This is especially important because AU Optronics and LG are the only panel makers in the >60Hz IPS space right now and it can get confusing.

These panels will be indistinguishable from LG IPS for most people, the quality is superb, far better than TN or VA.
