So pondering my next video card and what that might be a year from now.....what do you think we'll see? I am hoping for 512MB video cards with 32 pipelines and 512 bit cores (like Matrox Parhelia) as well as GDDR 3 or 4.....who'll be the first to build us these cards? What is ATI and NVIDIA waiting for...why push cards like the current ones when they can already be making these supercards? I'm sure it is only a matter of time and these to companies are going say enough is enough and build the be-all-end-all of videocards.

My bet for the next round:
-GDDR 3
-512MB "Ultra" or "Platinum" or "Rapper tooth gold ultra platinum cap in yo a&& edition"
-256-bit cores
-32-bit pipeline is doubtful with the ENORMOUS yield issues that would entail. Yet, NVidia has given us 32*0.
-Drum roll: SLI SLI SLI! Oh heck yeah!

ah yes then theres the whole SLI issue...heh...I wonder if 2 parhelia's in SLI mode would amount to any kind of performance compared to a card from NVIDIA or ATI? I know 1 parhelia is not as good but what about 2? Of course it would be no contest against NVIDIA or ATI cards in SLI...but it would be interesting to see a comparison.

its not like turning on a light switch to implement all these features . not only that, but putting in all of those specs into a vid card today would probably raise the cost much above the top end 500$ mark, and availability would only get much much worse. especially seeing how hard it is to just get 256MB of gddr3 on a card today :p

ATI and Nvidia are merely keeping up with the rest of the computer industry. These new cards are already pushing Cpu's to their limits. There is much more money to be made for all computer product companies, slowly upgrading as opposed to producing one super computer and not being able to top it years and years down the line. Especially since most performance junkies like us, constantly upgrade.
