Reading a bad drive

Not a standard backup or recovery. I just want to know if there's a way to read what's on a bad drive. A simple file listing would suffice. These are simple single volume, NTFS formatted.

Here's what happened. During a recent move some drives were (I assume) damaged. They now click and unreadable. BIOS still detects them. The data on them are not-critical so I really don't care about it by itself. What I would like is a way to read what files(names) were on the physical drive. Or just a listing of the /root directories. I can either recover or re-rip (media files) the ones on just those drives.

Is there anything simple that will accomplish what I'm looking for? I rather not go through to restoring everything as that's quite a task for me unless I can narrow down what was actually 'lost'.

Quick and dirty is fine. Even a simple hex dump of files and/or directory names will do. Doesn't have to be clean, neat or even formated nicely. I'm not looking to actually salvage the data.
