Im currently using a scythe infinity cooler w/ my E6300 and my temps are less then acceptable (42-43Idle / 52-54c sp2004 loaded) I was thinking, could I buy a 775 to skt 478 adapter, since the 478 style were a much better hold down? Would this work? This heatsink is 960Grams of hanging weight, and since scythe chose the use the factory hold down style, I have got to do something better then this. Thank you

Just get a heatsink that screws down to the motherboard. Downside is that you need to remove the motherboard from the case to install. Upside is how often do you changed heatsinks to worry about that.

Both my pentium d systems use heatsinks that have a backplate on them that the heatsink then somehow screws too. Works a lot better.

As I posted in your other thread, someone at XS came up with a custom retention mechanism that bolts through the mobo and is much more secure than the standard pin system. Give that a shot, it should be better than using a S478 bracket adapter.
