Re-Sleeving a Modstream

So I absoulty hate the modstreams cables. So I want to re-sleeve them. Re-sleeving a modstream, how would you sleeve the main atx and 12v cables? Would you open the box up and void the warrantee and actually have the sleeve coming out of the PSU box. Or would you just have the heatshrink close to the box. Also, how would I get the existing sleeving out the PSU? Will its just slide out of the heatshrink?

i would take a gamble and void my warranty if it were me...it would make for a much cleaner look with the sleeving going inside the PSU...its completely up to you tho...if you have problems killling PSUs then dont void it...if they've worked in your favour then might think about voiding it. ultimately its your decision, not mine...

you would have to take off the molex connectors...you can get a tool to remove them from like xoxide or any decent computer store. The old tubing slides off (you have to cut the heatshrink) and the new tubing slides on. When i sleeved mine i taped the ends of the sleeving with electrical and put the UV reactive heatshrink over it, as i have noticed that the sleeving and heatshrink will tend to slide if you are not very careful pulling the connectors out of drives, etc.
 
hmm..yes i need to still think about voiding it. Its been running strong for 7 months. but you know merphys law........... sleeving the rest of it will be a peice of cake im nto woried about that.

and i really like the electrial tape idea.
 
Also, would it be a problem if I added 2 more SATA power pugs to the existing line? would it put too much stress on the single line?
 
depends...look at teh sticker and look at what amperage your rails are at. if they are high then go ahead, if they are not too high then i would stay away. Other thing to consider is CPU, video card, add-on crap power consumption. If you are just running a basic single core single vid card system with not much add on crap then you should be fine...

not at all, as long as you have the juice. read the power supply forum to help you make sure you got enough. also i dont use the tool on the ATX, i use a pin, the tool is way easier though
 
well I know my psu can handle almost anything I through at it so im not concerned. Its the 520W model.
