I'm currently looking to upgrade my ram, here's my question:

1) will this ram work with my motherboard

2) would it be better to get a PC 4400 1 GB setup or a PC3500 2 GB setup?

Well, that board only supports upto a 533mhz fsb processor and anything more than 3200 is kind of a waste because I don't think intel motherboards allow overclocking(correct me if I'm wrong).

Correct, but my question is why 2gb? Are you going to be doing anything that utalizes 2gb? If not I would suggest investing HyperX PC3200 1gb kit (BH-5) or Mushkin lvl2 PC3500 1gb kit or Mushkin 2-2-2 Special 1gb. Zipzoomfly is one of the only places left w/ BH-5 HyperX 3200, and Newegg is runing out of Mushkin 2-2-2 special, so you gotta act quick. But that RAM link is *WAY* overpriced.

Lol, just realized that was a 2gb kit and not a gig kit
As for system cooling fans, I just bought a dozen of these:
