This thread is in regards to my earlier one about trying to get a smart card reader to work on a guest VM. Its not really a Hyper-V issue (I dont think), however these are VMs I have installed.
I have Server08 running Hyper-V with a handful of VMs. Three of those VMs are 'clients'. These are in the domain with the Server08 OS. I have a copy of Vista Business 64 with SP1 installed on one of those.
Here is the issue: I am trying to use Remote Desktops to RDP into the Vista client. I have Remote Deskop enabled on the guest OS. However, when the server tries to make the connection, the Vista VM crashes and reboots. I never get to the login prompt.
To throw a wrench in the situation, I installed the Win7 RC as a guest VM and tried the same thing and it works flawlessly. I joined the domain, and RDPed from the server to the client and was able to login and control the client. Furthermore, I was able to get the smart card reader to work!! This is what I wanted.
I updated the Vista VM with all the updates. It is now fully updated... same issues.
So I as I installed another Vista Business 64 bit SP1 VM, this second Vista VM has the same issues as well as the first after just a fresh install (no updates, just SP1).
I need to be able to RDP into the Vista VMs, and not the Win7 (installed Win7 for my pleasure, not really relevant to anything I'm trying to accomplish)
Bottom Line: Vista Business x64 SP1 crashes when trying to RDP from Server 2008 Std x64.
Any suggestions?
