Razer Diamondback - Side Buttons

Hi, I just got my razer diamondback and was wondering how to get the left and right side button that is closest to you to work? I liked how on my MX500 where the far left side button was forward in IE, and the closer button was back, and the 2 buttons dont even work on my games and voice programs like ventrilo, I have the most recent software for it....

In the razer software assign the buttons a function. Also for in game you can assign the buttons a keystroke and use it that way.

I cant assign it to anything useful like back/forward, and even using the keystroke doesnt work.
 
If i remember right it gets assigned back/forward by default. Might try downloading the latest software on their website.
