Razer DeathAdder

I think I'm gonna order one too, my mx518 is dying and logitech wants me to send it to them before they can send me a replacement. Two weeks of no mouse? No thanks.

hold your left hand up and try to make that shape. If you can I want to know sort of birth defect put your left thumb on the wrong side of you hand.

There is a very simple explanation for this. They changed the picture. I know I looked at it very carefully and it was definitely left before.

Where did you get it from? Me = still waiting :( and I am going crazy.

I just preordered about two weeks ago when they went up on the Razerzone EU store. They just said they would release some time this month. I didn't get a shipping e-mail so I was quite surprised when they just turned up at the door! I got two DA's and an exact rest.

Just got mine in from Tigerdirect and yes it actually is the Deathadder. So far just on the feel alone I like it alot. Time to get it hooked up.

Now that people actually have them, how about some impressions. :p

Also list the mousepad you're using with it.

FIRST HAND FIRST IMPRESSIONS:

Just got mine an hour ago after messing around with it, I'm very displeased. It feels and looks great in terms of comfort and quality but is performing like a turd. It has the positive acceleration and lift off issues others are reporting on www.razerblueprints.com and to top it off, mine has an extra defect. The right click sticks. If I click it once, I can't click it again literrally without give it a shake to snap out of it. By not clicking again I mean that it both will not do the operation right click is suppose to do (menu, secondary fire, etc) but it won't physically click either. I can't hear the actual "click" and if I push on it, it doesn't feel like it goes anywhere.

:EDIT: Another problem I found. In game, I have mouse 3 set as "throw weapon". When I push it in game, it throw my gun AND starts turning right for some stupid reason.

Sigh very unhappy.

It's interesting to see how displeased normal people are as opposed to the review websites... They either greased the wheels or sent them some amazing test units... Sigh, was really hoping this would be my next mouse. Now I'm not so sure. :/

Review guys are generally idiots who give everything good reviews. The lift off distance on a black surface is over a centimeter. It is difficult to fathom without using it just how fucking retarded this problem is. The positive acceleration I'm sure can be easily rectified in a firmware update (it's not even that large to begin with; I didn't notice it without specifically testing for it). I just don't know what kind of firmware changes (if any) can fix the sensor so that it operates at a lower maximum height than it does now.

Wow that's a lot of money to pay for a crappy mouse!

And how would this be better than a $40 MX518 again?

Got mine today. I am disgusted by the lift off distance. I love the shape and feel of it but the lift off distance is horrible. When I take away my mouse pad (which is black) and just use my desk the lift off distance is reduced dramatically. Sucks though because I bought the Ratpadz XT just for this mouse.

I only spent $10 more on this mouse than an mx518 because I was sick of logitechs not lasting long. My current possibly last mx518 had total left click failure in only 3 months of usage. Still, pretty pissed at this razer bs.

Im still buying one. high sensitivity gamer :p and i look the look and shape of it :)

firmware should help everyone...

Yeah firmware SHOULD help the poor people who bought this crapass mouse, the problem is when in the world is Razer going to get around releasing it! I mean for pete's sake, it was taken off the main Razer page and is no longer for sale at TigerDirect either. Reeks of a recall if you ask me.

Everyone gets a lemon from time to time. I've been using an MX518 since release...works just fine.

I didn't care for the Habu as it felt a little too fat. The main mouse buttons didn't click as easy as the MX518 either. The Deathadder seems to have changed both of those in a good way. I still don't like the idea of losing 3 buttons on the top, but it'd be nice to check out when the local Fry's gets them in stock.

Yeah, I'm still using the mx518 since it was launched as well, and my mx510 is on my older computer and it still works fine as well,.

Hiya, i've bought one today, and all i can say, i'm pretty impressed with it.
I immediately updated the firmware, and i've got no problem with it. (driver 1.03, firmware 1.10)
The package is something you look at, and say "wow" :)
It's more ergonomic than my good-old diamondback, it gives a better handling, and fits better into my hand.
Until now i have no concerns with it, and i'm really pleased.
And yeah someone asked for pics. HERE is a few, but i made it in a really bad lighted room (my bedroom :) ) So without flash the light wasn't enough, but with it, it was too much, so sry for the quality. :S I've made a few pics with my Diamondback besides it, so you can see the difference, that DeathAdder is bigger, and more ergonomical.
And i'm using it with an eXactMat now, but soon i'll switch to Mantis (i've already bought it, but there is no space on my desk, because my old monitor is still on it's place, but on this weekend, i'll get rid of it :) ).

I had one for 3 weeks and updating firmware bricked it, but rma'ing and should get it back next week.

was a great mouse when i had it, compared to this old mx300 im using.

This isn't a razer bad logitech good post, but I just hate razers, they are way too small for my hands, and feel really cheap too me. I have had my mx510 for...a long time no problems, really like it...

I just won a Deathadder... arrived today. It seems nice enough, but I already have a G5 which I prefer the heavier feel of (even without the weights), so I gave the Razer to my dad. He was in dire need of a new mouse anyway...

The booting issue can be fixed by going into Device Manager and turn off "Allow the computer to turn this off to save power" for the "USB Root Hubs"

My old copperhead did that. er, maybe it was a diamondback? anyways.. good tip! :)

I don;t know whats the deal with this mouse, but Logitech already have 2000DPI G7. There are other mouses out there who has 3200 DPI and less expensive.

thats what you are doing, but anyways just to let you know, the deathadder is actually much larger than the other razer mouses due to it being ergonomic for right hand people, and not for either like the other razer mouses.

THX for the tip man!

btw, dpi is not that important, so more dpi doesn't mean better mouse.
i suggest everyone to check esreality for it's gaming mouse test.

so far i'm pretty sure, i've made the right decision, this is a really good mouse

I think I'm gonna sell my G5 for either a Razer or the MS Razer mouse.

The G5 and other logitech mice look so idiotic, cheap, and 17 year old gamer to me. They completely lack elegance.

Nothing like having a piano black case, piano black keyboard, piano black monitor, frost glass desk, and this ugly assed G5 sitting ontop

You might regret your decision quickly . I went from G5 and bought
Razer Copperhead Tempest Blue from Best Buy. After connecting to my computer the windows wouldn't boot at all. Tried three times.
so I disconnected the mouse and guess what it boots up as normal.
I uninstalled Logitech drivers , installed Razer software. Connected the new mouse . Tried to change settings - windows crashes and restarts.
Well not really it wouldn't boot up at all. So I went back to G5 and every thing works as usual even without Logitech software.

Returned Razer to BB and was told that I have to change something in the BIOS in order for it to work (wasn't told what exactly )
So I spend $ 90.00 for a mouse that won't work straight up in windows ??? Do I have to change BIOS ??? WTF is that ?
Plus it has 2 buttons on each side that are hard to access . But also they are the same function buttons. Ones are for right handed people and the other for left handed people . They advertise as 7 button mouse not really true isn't it ???

Don't know what the problem may have been, but I went from a logitech to razer copperhead with no problems.

The selling point of the G5 versus the DeathAdder for me is the quality of the mouse feet. The smoothness of the G5 mousing experience is simply unparalleled. The DA mouse feet seem once again like nothing more than pieces of milk jugs glued to the bottom of the mouse compared to the G5 feet. This isn't some marketing ploy: the thing feels like "greased silk" (thank you Ratpadz banners) on my eXactMat while the DA is loud, rough and just plain unpleasant.

Anyone care to take a picture, make a short movie to demonstrate the lift off?

Yea, thats one thing I havent liked about the razer mouse, the pads are crap, and wear off easily, on my copperhead I replaced them twice, but they are going quick so far on my DeathAdder. How do the feet on the G5 last? Do they wear down easily, ever had to replace, whats the story?

G5 feet never worn off on me in 2 year use. But I got new mouse pad ,
"RadpadzGs" and they leave marks on it. After few days I have white "stain" that I have to clean. That is because they are Grey in colour .
My Mx518 feet are black and they don't leave marks at all.

Also G5 has the greatest cord I used to date. Its thin and feels more like a
rope than a regular mouse cable. Very flexible and bends easily.

yes.. the chord on the G5 is really nice.. I wish more mouse chords were like it.

Bump to see if anyone's got a favorite mousing surface for this.

I'm using it with my Razer mousepad. It's a match made in heaven.

Anyways, the Deathadder is by far the best mouse i ever had the pleasure of using. I tried all kind of mice throughout the years, lately the G5, the mx518, diamondback, mx510, ms 3.0 etc. et al.

The Deathadder is simply perfectly shaped, highly accurate and well built. I really can't recommend it enough.

Oh and please please please don't fall for this whole "more DPI is better" or "laser is better than optical". It's simply not true. Period and end of story. Get used to it.

How do you hold the DeathAdder? I usually like a mouse to support the palm of my hand, because just having my fingers on it (and my palm floating in the air) it gets pretty uncomfortable. Is this possible with the DeathAdder, or the Diamondback or G5 for that matter as i'm considering them too.

It's possible with the deathadder and the G5, but not so much with the Diamondback. I'm a "finger only holder" guy, so i didn't mind the Diamondback at all. However, the G5 for me was uncomfortable due to it's big "hump". The deathadder also has this hump, but smaller and more comfortable for me.

Thank you for your help. I think i prefer the shape of the Diamondback (from what i've seen of it, any way) because it uses the same style as "conventional" mice. I just wish there was somewhere nearby i could try them out. Anyway, that's enough of me stealing the thread's focus here. ;)
