Razer Copperhead: Gone

Does anyone know why Razer stopped selling the copperhead on their website? Or, in other words, stopped making it? The DeathAdder is too funky for me, and it seems all their latest mice are going through the concept design of that particular mouse which leaves me stuck with my Copperhead until they make a basic looking high performance mouse.

I will say this about the Copperheads; They don't seem to last very long. My first one lasted almost 2 years without the left mouse button getting "stiff" to where it is almost impossible to get a click in, and the the scroll wheel becoming defective. My replacement didn't even last a year. Although my scroll wheel on the replacement still works, I get that "stiff" left mouse button. Luckily, I'm still in the limited warranty with my replacement.

Maybe they stopped making them because they were poorly designed or made?

I've had quite a few Razer mice, starting with the original limited edition Boomslang ball mouse. Build quality has been poor with all, and 3 Copperheads I had were all very flaky. You can buy Copperhead from the US Razer website, and many retailers in the EU & UK still have them. I'd choose an alternative at this point as there are better Razer mice available, not to mention all the other new brands of gaming mouse that have appeared since the Copperhead was launched.

If I remember correctly, there was a time when Razer was gonna call it quits and they started to by selling their remaining inventory off eBay. It took forever to receive my boomslang. And after numerous e-mails, I finally got it with a free mouse on the side, but both of them never worked properly.

I never liked the feel of the Copperhead's shell, which is the same surface coating on the Diamondback 3G. Now, the original Diamondback is my favorite mouse ever. Razer discontinued it a few years ago, but I managed to buy 3 new ones on eBay, last year. I'm using one of them now along with the first one I bought over two years ago that's still going strong.

My DeathAdder is pretty poorly built. So if you care about things like squeaking mouse buttons and non durable grip finish, go Logitech. Or even get an MS IE mouse, which you might like since it's simple but effective.

Ive tried 3 diff razer mice over the years, including deathadder and copperhead, and disliked them all. None ever compared to my mx510/518. And logitech replaces them for free (lifetime warranty), with no proof of purchase or box or anything, just give them some numbers off the bottom of the mouse and mail it back to them. They even upgraded me from a 510 to a 518 for free mwahaha.

I did like the feel of the copperhead over the adder. I dont like the feel of the adder in my hands at all. They all felt kind of light & shoddy. Sorry ahead of time to razer lovers

My Lachesis began to stop working properly about a month ago, very twitchy performance. I've got my RMA number, but I'll probably just order another mouse to use from now on.

On the other hand, I also have the Lycosa keyboard and I haven't had any problems.

I don't know about poor build quality...maybe you guys are just really rough with your mice. My copperhead, which I'm just now replacing, has been going strong for over 2 years and the finish on the buttons is now barely starting to scrape off in one tiny spot.

Perhaps... But, not even 6 months? Jeesers!

I've got it RMAed now, so they'll be sending me a replacement.

On another note, it could of been where I got the mouse from: Amazon. They usually send you stuff that has already been used. So, that might have something to do with it. They actually sent me an opened box one the first time and I had to send it back to them to get a "new" one.

I also got my Sennheiser HD555 headphones @ Amazon. And not even a year later the left speaker adjuster thingy came apart and is now duct tape onto the speaker. I couldn't necessarily tell if these headphones were sealed but there was no shrink warp and the box opened rather easily.

So, if you're buying some hardware or what not, don't get it from Amazon.

uhm, I had no problem with Amazon. I got couple things from them and they still work for years....Maybe you out of luck

my copperhead, mentioned in the above post, was actually bought from amazon. I don't think anyone in my entire family has ever had trouble with them, much less me. Perhaps just some bad luck.
