Has anyone pre-ordered this yet? I'm debating on whether to pre-order or wait for it to hit retail stores before making a decision.

It's the cheapest mechanical keyboard I've found from a reputable brand so far, so it has me pretty excited =D.

Waiting is always the smarter option unless it's a limited run of something you have to have.

Waiting is good, especially with Razer. The price is amazing but I am soooo wary of their keyboards. I'd have to see the key and overall build quality before jumping into buying one of those. I also really question the use of blue switches in a gaming keyboard, but we'll see how it works out.

Either way, awesome price, way cheaper than my Filco or Steelseries mechanical keyboards.

I've never had any problems gaming with Blues, I do prefer Browns over them though.

I may pick this one up once newegg has it on sale. Tough choice between new keyboard or mouse... decsions.

Okay what gives.. the date of availability on the razer website used to say 09/17. Then it changed to 09/22. Now it's 10/13. Wth?

a reputable brand

This is the opposite of what Razer is.

Never buy one of their products on launch day.

I love their mice and have been using them for years, but their quality is pretty spectacularly mediocre. They can't seem to release finished products these days.

I kinda wish razer would not use blue lighting on ALL their products. The blackwidow would be more appealing if it had white backlit keys instead of the blue gamer oriented lighting.

It seems like review samples are out there, but I think that they weren't available for retail sale (or if they were, it was in very limited amounts).

So yeah, I had this on my birthday list in anticipation that it would be released by the time 10/26 came around. Of course, now the date is pushed back YET AGAIN and I still have my worn out Saitek II.

Its a re-branded lower end mechanical keyboard.

Razer has awesome mice but their keyboard, like most bigger market gaming keyboards, are more about lights and looking cool than performance.

The Razer Lycosa is pretty much the worst keyboard I have ever owned, so bad.

Of what keyboard exactly is it a rebrand? I'm looking for a Cherry Blue mechanical keyboard and have been waiting for the blackwidow, but there really doesn't seem to be a clear release date on it.

Have you actually used a blackwidow? It seems a bit harsh to throw the blackwidow in with other gaming keyboards, given that its pretty damn cheap for a mechanical keyboard and is actually pretty stripped back, the cheaper version has no fancy LED lighting or touch screens, a very different beast to most of the piece of shit "gaming" membrane keyboards who's keys feel like pushing your finger into a blob of mud.

There doesn't seem to be many good cheap mechanical keyboards available in Australia.

Blackwidow/blackwidow ultimate are re-branded iOne Scorpius M10BL and M10. There are some reviews out there for them. The m10 goes for 50 dollars. I'm not saying it is bad, especially if you want the blue switches. It will be a LARGE step up from the mass marketed gaming keyboards.

MRSP is 80 dollars. You aren't really saving that much compared to a lot of 99-129 dollar keyboards.

And to be fair to razer and their previous gaming keyboards, the Logitech gaming keyboards suck too. But, their gaming mice are amazing...... i've slung my death adder to the wood floor many times and it still works. I hope their sub-par keyboards don't drag their name through the mud. Sad that keyboard manufacturers seem retarded, but i guess it's because the majority of gaming consumers are more drawn to flashy lights and extra buttons.

I'm in the market for a new mouse but keep hearing reliability issues with the Razer ones.

Of course their keyboards are crap... all gaming keyboards are crap. I went to a computer shop the other day and tried out most the logitech and MS gaming keyboards and the keys on them all feel like shit, my random 5yo $10 cheapo rubber membrane keyboard feels as good if not better than most the "gaming" keyboards I looked at which they are flogging for 5 to 10 times the price.

I'm also in the market for a new keyboard though since my ancient cheap keyboard spacebar has started to go spongy after many years of use and the Cherry Blue keys seem to be in the realm of what I'd like, haven't been able to test them though, was hoping the blackwidow would fill that role.
