Hello and good morning gents!
I have a couple of questions that I'd like to throw at you and maybe look into changing some things up in my rig.
I had a stint where I was apparently addicted to Razer products. I bought a Copperhead mouse, the AC-1 Barracuda sound card, and a Carcharias headset.
Now either the first PCI slot on my motherboard or the sound card is going bad. I had to move it to the second slot to keep the computer from causing a black screen and cursor lockup issue.
The headset mic has also stopped working a few months after buying it so I have had to use a second cheap headset mic that I had laying around if I want to use TS or Skype.
The mouse has also decided to start double clicking on its own all the time which makes double taps in FPS pretty slick but otherwise frustrating.
Everything is now out of warranty. I don't plan on buying Razer products anymore.
I like the headset a lot though. I was tempted to just buy another one but I want to know what your guys' suggestions would be on a different one, maybe better quality, that is proven to last longer then two years.
Does sound quality improve noticeably if I were to get away from the input jacks and go to something more digital?
I don't use speakers I just use this headset. It is extremely comfortable and doesn't hurt my ears at all if I use it for an extended amount of time (literally hours at a time). It does extend itself very slowly so every few hours I have to push it back up to fit on my ears again. The cord is also 500' long (obvious exaggeration?).
The sound card I don't tell a difference really. I put it back in my computer so that my mic wouldn't have static when I talk. I don't know if its actually taking some load off my other hardware or not to process the sound.
So there are my thoughts that are sound related. The mouse I already have a potential replacement in mind.
Budget. Not much. At best I think I can scrounge up between $75-$100 for the sound and headset individually. Likely more if needed so don't feel restricted with a suggestion and I'll make the ultimate decision. I won't be buying all of this at once especially with holidays on the way.
