Pff.. In Detroit they would shoot at you and then you wouldn't have anything to shoot back with except your temperature IR gun. I don't suggest trying it.

MCM carries a Raytek for $29, I recently bought a second one for my wife and it works perfectly in a professional capacity (crumb cop!)

Pretty sure they're made by Fluke which, if true, would be a very good thing.
